Here's How It All Went Down!

Well, we had an amazing week in Lake Tahoe to celebrate the One Year Anniversary of Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina at Harrah's Casino.  Lefty Lucy had the opportunity to jam with some of the greatest players that rock has ever seen!  We played in the Cabo Wabo Cantina for five unbelievable nights.

Thursday, April 28 was off the hook!  We were able to catch a good bit of the Soul Sirkus concert featuring Neal Schon, Marco Mendoza, Virgil Donati, and Jeff Scott Soto. After their concert, most of the guys came down to party with Lefty Lucy in the Cabo Wabo Cantina.  We were joined at the start of our second set with Michael Anthony, the bass player from Van Halen, Dave Lauser, the drummer from Sammy Hagar's Waborita's, and Jeff Scott Soto from Soul Sirkus stepped in to sing some Stevie Wonder.  WOW!  Jeff did the vocal on a song written by Sammy Hagar called "Stand up and Shout," which was featured in the movie "ROCKSTAR" starring Jennifer Anniston and Mark Wahlberg.  What a voice!  After a few more songs, Virgil traded places with Dave Lauser on drums to play "Hot for the Teacher."  Michael Anthony even threw in his signature high harmonies!  Could it GET any better than that??? Jeff really slammed on that one!  Michael was also featured on "I Love Rock n Roll" while Lucy belted it out!  The crowd was heaving!  It was an amazing night for everyone in that Cantina!

Over the course of the next three nights, we were honored to play with even more of rock's finest.  After Aaron Hagar had sung "Halfway to Memphis" on the main concert stage with his father, Sammy, Aaron came up to sing a few tunes with Lefty Lucy. The flashbulbs really started firing then.  You can really tell that the talent runs in the family.  Look out, dad!  Harrah's President, Don Marrandino surprised the crowd with his guitar playing and vocal back ups on "Knocking on Heaven's Door."  Vic Johnson, Sammy Hagar's guitar player, sat in for a creative rendition of "Pride and Joy."  Vic can really make that guitar sing!  We even had Jeff Watson from Night Ranger up to play guitar on a few.

We were able to see Sammy Hagar's concert all three nights before we had to play at the Cantina.  And we went in STYLE!! (Thanks, Don. You are truly the greatest!) If you haven't seen Sammy in concert before, all I have to say is that he can still rock like no other... and in Sammy's own words, "There's only one way to rock!"  Thank you to everyone at Harrah's and Harvey's especially those in the Cabo Wabo Cantina and all of the security guards.  You all were so thorough and professional and treated us with such respect.  Thanks for getting our backs!                                                        Many thanks to all from The Lefty Lucy Band
